WHAT COULD GO WRONG THROUGH THE EYES OF OJARA BENJAMIN.

I'm weak to such a degree that typing on my phone is even a difficult task. But I will struggle and type what I witnessed and think it's worthy for me to say. This is from my one week in CASUALTY WARD.

When we arrived at 23 00hrs on Sunday, I spent the night on the floor because there was even hardly any empty bed at that time. Then on Monday at around 10am I was secured one. The bed made me face an arrangement of four or five beds meant for critically ill patients.

They are equipped with oxygen, a monitor, and a suction unit. I would call these beds, "Beds for those in their last agony". I don't want to scare you by mentioning how many died from those beds during my five days there.

What I can tell you is that, if you love to pray, let your prayers always be that God bless you with good health, and that you don't get involved in a nasty accident that will land you on such beds.

There's this beautiful lady who got an accident with the boyfriend. Her left leg was shattered terribly, plus she broke her jaws apparently. Can you imagine putting on tight fitting jeans and getting your legs shattered in them.

Removing these jeans alone  caused the lady so much pain that she wailed in the ward like a distressed she goat. And with the jaws broken, she couldn't say anything comprehensible.

Her friend that was dressed in a yellow t-shirt and an equally tight fitting jeans stood there looking at her like a frightened rabbit. She obviously escaped the accident unhurt.

However, when the doctor gave her a pair of gloves to put on and help with shifting her severely wounded friend, she declined and disappeared within minutes from the building.

Later on, a farm of the boy's family stormed the ward, his mother and father inclusive. They were quite shocked at seeing their son and a lady in that condition.

The mother even didn't know how to begin to cry. The man rushed to his son and carried him on his lap despite his weight. He held him close and stroked him like a baby boy.

Apparently, information got late to the girl's family given the fact that they stormed the ward the following day. They were equally shocked to see their daughter like that. Both families looked closely knitted together and cooperative. I hope their children win the fight for their lives.

Also, some of the patients didn't have relatives to look after them. I noticed the death of two people that no one was by their sides. They just died lonely and were wheeled to the mortuary; no one crying for their death.

If a man is wise, they should know that anything bad will happen to them at anytime and from anywhere. And that they have no choice over what bad thing should happen to them.

Avoid over bragging that your God will keep you safe; avoid over bragging that you're bad ass and can handle every challenge that come your way, for your fate is there but just unknown to you; it's seeing you but you aren't just seeing it.

So, while you struggle to live a better life full of nice things; while you enjoy life, don't forget that there is nothing more valuable than your life itself, and that anything could happen to it at anytime from anywhere.
