Building sports excellency.
Welcome to Uganda Lacrosse Union (ULU)
The Uganda Lacrosse Union serves as the governing body of lacrosse in
Uganda and oversees the development of men’s and women’s lacrosse in
Uganda. Uganda is a recognized associate member of the Federation of
International Lacrosse.
The Uganda Cranes lacrosse team pride themselves on playing the game
with an unrivaled passion and spirit, they play the game year round.
The years program consists of the official Uganda National Lacrosse
League with five men's clubs and two women clubs who plays in series
at MUBS grounds Nakawa the home of lacrosse in Uganda.
The summer months are focused on training and player development
(this is when most volunteers come through from mostly USA) and is
capped with the annual King’s Cup Tournament in early August or
September that has existed since 2011. In subsequent months the
players meet on their own for training sessions held every
Monday,Wednesday and Saturday. The ULU hopes to launch a league in the
near future that will run till mid-next year.
Uganda Cranes Lacrosse is currently in the midst of the international
glory from the Dream 2014 Campaign whose aim was to see Uganda make
history as the first ever African nation to compete in the FIL World
Championships in Denver Colorado July 10th-20th. This over 150,000USD
initiative was finalized on a high with Uganda Cranes winning two of
their official six international games played against Republic of
Ireland.Bermuda,France,South Korea,Argentina and China. Uganda 11 vs 5
Argentina and Uganda 10 vs 9 Korea.
Uganda Cranes Lacrosse also played friendlies with Mexico,England and Canada.
Our current prospective is to ride on this cloud and continue to
surface on the FIL International lacrosse events calendar alongside
developing our National Lacrosse League.
This will be possible working with you and other more corporate
organizations whose vision can easily tally with developing local
sports, talent, building capacity including shaping the youth into super
talents just like our President Davis Kamoga who won a bronze medal at
the 1996 summer Olympics in Georgia Antlanta in 400m finals.
The calendar has U-19 women's world lacrosse tournament in Edinburgh
Scotland July 2015 and U-19 men 2016 and the senior women 2017 and men
2018 in Manchester England and the players to lift the Uganda flag
have already been working for these projects within our programs in
six secondary schools ie Gayaza,Viena SS,Jinja SS,Namagunga,St
Lawrence,Green Hill Academy and three universities Makerere
University,MUBS and Ndejje University.
It's on this note that we welcome you on board to help Uganda Lacrosse
Union maintain a more facilitated competitive league and National
calendar for men and women with creativity that will give Uganda an
upper hand while competing for gold at all of the international
tournaments.
